This is the program that provides general accounting education to students wanting to pursue a professional career in Accountancy in general and in Public Accounting in particular Further, this is the program that complies with the latest competency framework for professional accountants issued by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) through their International Education Standards. Thus, this qualifies the graduate of this program to take assessments leading to certifications in Accountancy given by the Professional Regulatory Commission - Board of Accountancy (PRC-BOA) and other global professional Accountancy 0rganizations.
As a field of study, Accountancy is a profession that Involves providing assurance and audit services for statutory financial reporting, tax-related services, management advisory services partnering in management decision-making, devising planning and performance and control systems, and providing expertise in financial reporting and control to assist various stakeholders In making decisions. Accountants should pursue lifelong learning. and continuous professional development They must be objective, ethical and consider the public interest. They should help colleagues to overcome bias by rooting organizational decision-making and implementation in an evidence base, and by providing empirically tested, objective solutions wherever possible. Accountancy professionals must pay due regard to the primacy of the organization's customers and the range or relationships that enable a business to operate. They must also understand the global macro-economlc environment to assess Information based on its relevance to their organization. By working across functions, Accounting Information System professionals understand the links between operational activity, financial resource generation and consumption, and value generation and preservation. They perform a vital role in supporting organizational performance through an effective information system. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN LEGAL MANAGEMENT
The BS Legal Management (BSLM) Program is an interdisciplinary approach to the study of business, management, law, and society. It provides knowledge and skills in the components of law and the legal and regulatory intricacies of the business environment. The purpose of this multifaceted program is to develop the study of law within a business-management framework and to explore the myriad ways in which law is connected with other management disciplines pertinent to an understanding of contemporary business and society. The student is given two options as fields of concentration: General Management and Law. Thus, this program is an excellent preparatory course for four-year law proper studies (Bachelor of Laws (LLB)/Juris Doctor (JD), or a pathway to graduate studies.
A graduate of BSLM should be able to:
a. Apply legal and management principles, theories, and methods to various types of organizations. b. Analyze, evaluate, and solve problems critically using legal and management tools and techniques. c. Use interpersonal and communication skills effectively. d.
