Atty. Carla Marie L. Sumigad, CPA, Campus Executive Officer of Cagayan State University—Andrews Campus, has reiterated her commitment to promoting staff welfare and continuous professional development as key strategies for achieving operational excellence.
This reaffirmation came during a two-part capacity-building seminar held on May 26, 2025, at the SMART Room of CSU-Andrews Campus. The seminar brought together members of the university’s security and maintenance units, who play a vital role in supporting the institution’s day-to-day operations.
The event formed part of the inaugural capacity building for CSU's operational staff, held under the theme: “Beyond the Broom and Badge: Championing Quality, Equality, and Excellence in the University.” It highlighted the administration’s recognition of the essential contributions of its non-academic personnel.
“Napaka-importante po ng role ninyo sa Cagayan State University. Kayo po ‘yung pinakamasipag, pinakamaasahan po ng organisasyon natin, at nakikita po namin kayo kaya natin ginagawa lahat ng ito,” said Atty. Sumigad in her address to the participants. [ “Your role at Cagayan State University is extremely important. You are the most hardworking and dependable members of our organization, and we see and recognize your efforts—that is why we do all of this.”]
The seminar featured sessions on four key topics:
• Gender Sensitivity, including discussions on Gender and Development (GAD), the Magna Carta of Women, and Republic Act No. 11313 or the “Safe Spaces Act” (Anti-Bastos Law)
• Student Manual Updates, particularly on new student-related policies and university standards
• Personality Development, aimed at enhancing personal and professional growth
• The Role of Auxiliary Personnel in Quality Assurance, which emphasized the critical contribution of support staff in upholding CSU’s commitment to excellence.
The initiative underscores CSU-Andrews Campus’ broader strategy to invest in its human capital and build an inclusive, high-performing university culture.
Said capacity building was spearheaded by the Campus Gender and Development Office.
