CSU Andrews Campus welcomed a vibrant group of 2,431 new students on August 19, 2024, marking the official start of the Academic Year 2024-2025. The day commenced with the Traditional Grand Athena Walk, a symbolic procession that celebrates the arrival of new students into the university community. During this event, Mr. John Lester S. Jaime, Student Regent and President of CSU Andrews Campus Student Council delivered his welcome remarks, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mariden Ventura-Cauilan, shared a message to inspire the new students as they embark on their academic journey.
Following the Grand Athena Walk, attendees gathered for a Eucharistic Celebration led by Fr. Ranhilio C. Aquino. This spiritual gathering set a reflective tone for the day, allowing students to connect with their faith and embrace the journey ahead. The celebration highlighted the shared commitment between the university and students in achieving academic success.
The new students orientation program officially began with a warm welcome message from the Campus Executive Officer, Mr. Ramon Henry Peregrino O. Kanapi. CEO Kanapi stated, “The education you are receiving starts today, and how you value it and rebuild yourselves is up to you, dear students.” He emphasized that while the university offers a strong faculty lineup and improved infrastructure, students must value their learning experience and strive for personal growth.
CEO Kanapi encouraged new students to take pride in their achievement in gaining admission, highlighting a 16% increase in the acceptance rate this year, which provides more students the opportunity for quality tertiary education. “We are here to support you in pursuing your dreams and to provide the quality education you deserve,” he affirmed. He concluded by acknowledging the efforts of faculty and staff in preparing for the new academic year and reiterated the importance of mutual respect within the university community.
The orientation program also featured presentations of University and Campus Officials, as well as the Campus Student Council, allowing students to familiarize themselves with key figures who will guide them throughout their academic journey.
A brief overview of the various services offered on the campus was provided, emphasizing the institution's dedication to providing quality education and robust support systems for students.
The excitement continued into the second day with a Campus Tour titled “A Walk Through the Owl’s Multiverse,” designed to familiarize new students with the campus facilities and resources. This tour was complemented by further presentations on the available services to enhance their academic experience.
As the CSU Andrews community embraces its new students, the campus looks forward to supporting their growth, fostering academic excellence, and cultivating a vibrant campus life throughout the upcoming year. We are here to guide you, but your journey is uniquely yours, CSUans.
