It has come to our attention that a post has been circulating on Facebook alleging a ₱56,000 "OJT fee" for our Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students.
We would like to clarify that this amount is not collected by Cagayan State University. It is paid directly by the students to the service providers and primarily covers transportation, accommodation, insurance, and meals for the duration of the on-the-job training (OJT).
Consultations with students and their parents were properly conducted. While OJT is a required component of the curriculum, the choice of location—whether local or international—is voluntary and based on the student’s preference and financial capacity.
Tasks assigned by host training establishments, as long as they are relevant to the academic and professional outcomes of the program, are considered legitimate components of the students’ training. Additionally, OJT coordinators conduct regular monitoring to ensure the welfare of the students and the quality of training provided.
We urge the public—especially social media users—to exercise prudence, responsibility, and critical thinking when posting, sharing, or commenting online. Spreading unverified information can cause confusion and may damage the reputation of individuals and institutions.
We encourage everyone to verify facts through official university channels or consult the appropriate offices directly.
Furthermore, appropriate legal action will be taken against individuals or groups found to be deliberately spreading misinformation or fake news that undermines the credibility of the University or misleads the public.
Cagayan State University remains committed to transparency, accountability, and excellence in education and public service.
Thank you!
