5 students to graduate magna cum laude
Tuguegarao City — For the first time, five Magna Cum Laude from the College of Teacher Education (CTED) are poised to lead this year’s graduating class at Cagayan State University Andrews after garnering the highest academic distinction conferred by the university this year.
Heading this year’s academic honors is Domingo Calebag Jr., a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English, who earned the highest general weighted average (GWA) of 94.67 among Andrews' candidates, securing his place as the valedictorian of Batch 2025.
Closely following is Twixtine Duriguez, also a BSEd-English candidate, with a GWA of 94.60.
Completing the roster of Magna Cum Laude honorees from CTED are Maryli Caggauauan, a Bachelor of Elementary Education candidate who ranked third, along with Jobert Bancud and Ana Marie Dasigan, who ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.
In addition to the Magna Cum Laude awardees, CTED will recognize 72 Cum Laude graduates, 42 Academic Distinction recipients, and 46 With Merit awardees, totaling 165 academic awardees for the college alone.
Other colleges in the campus will also recognize high-achieving students during the convocation with the College of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy recognizing 27 Cum Laude graduates, 58 recipients of Academic Distinction, and 61 With Merit honorees.
The College of Hospitality Management (CHM) will also recognize 6 Cum Laude, 5 Academic Distinction, and 8 With Merit awardees.
Meanwhile, the College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) will honor 3 Cum Laude graduates, 3 Academic Distinction recipients, and 5 With Merit awardees.
This year’s graduation will honor a total of 1,956 candidates for graduation, including the 341 academic awardees who will be recognized during the Academic Convocation for the Conferment of Degrees and Titles, which will be held on July 1–2 at the Andrews Campus Gymnasium.
On July 1, the commencement exercises will be conducted for CBEA and CHM, while CTED and CAHS will hold their respective ceremonies on July 2.
